Pant and Bumrah Shine in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The latest ICC Test rankings reflect a dynamic shift in the world of cricket, driven by outstanding performances in both Test and T20I formats. Rishabh Pant of India and Ben Duckett of England are the major headliners, achieving career-best rankings following their remarkable performances in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings after his pair of centuries at Headingley. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman scored 134 and 118, becoming only the second wicketkeeper in Test history—after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001—to achieve centuries in both innings of a match. Pant is now the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to reach 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter in the world, followed by his fellow countryman Harry Brook in second place. India’s captain Shubman Gill has climbed five places to reach 20th position after his first innings century.
Jasprit Bumrah, India’s leading pace bowler, maintains his position as the world's No. 1 Test bowler after another five-wicket haul at Headingley. England’s Ben Stokes, after his contributions with both bat and ball, rose three places to claim the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings—his highest in recent months.
The T20I rankings have also seen significant changes after the tri-series in Glasgow, featuring the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Dutch batter Michael Levitt has jumped 16 places to 14th after consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also made an impact, climbing 20 spots to joint 38th.
With the ICC rankings serving as an indicator of individual excellence, each run and wicket continues to influence the hierarchy of cricket.
