The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league starting in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, has officially confirmed this decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the GCA is actively working to identify an appropriate window in the cricket calendar for the tournament. Furthermore, key details such as the number of participating teams are yet to be determined.
These domestic T20 leagues have rapidly emerged as vital scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues already exist in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra. They provide a crucial platform for local talent, offering opportunities to gain recognition and potentially advance to higher levels of the sport. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
